Optical Salinity Refractometer
A refractometer is a laboratory or field device for the measurement of an index of refraction (refractometry). The index of refraction is calculated from the observed refraction angle using Snell’s law.
This salinity refractometer is designed for testing the concentration of salt water in marine and reef aquariums. Many hobbyist prefer to use this instead of a hydrometer because they find it quicker and easier to get a accurate reading.
Refractometers are also used for quality control in research and clinical laboratories and marine industries. Its scale provides a direct reading of the specific gravity and concentration (Parts per Thousand) of salt in water.
This model comes with ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) allowing you to use the refractometer between 10 / 30 degrees Celsius so the temperature of the sample is irrelevant.
EASY TO USE:
- Place 2-3 drops to the prism face using the pipette provided
- Close the cover plate and wait 30 seconds
- Look through the eye piece
